Quotes by Elia Abu Madi

Born in a Lebanese village, Elia Abu Madi emigrated as a boy to Egypt and, in 1911, to the United States, where in 1920 he founded in New York, with Kahlil Gibran and Mikhail Naimy, the Pen League of Arab writers in America. His best-known poems, “The Talismans”, “Philosophy of Life” and “Smile”, are still learnt by heart in schools across the Arab world.
